"Butterfly Forest", size 76 x 15 (inches), is an original silk painting by Bettina Madini. I would say, it has 20 layers of paint. The silk just absorbs an incredible amount of pigment, which then also creates the most amazing effects in the light.
It is hand-painted, all brushwork, and one-of-a-kind.
My silks are like stained glass and glow like jewels. I love painting them, as I can easily 'go in' and overlay tone after hue after color, until my body let's me know, with butterflies in my stomach, that a new creation is born.
Each one a journey, with its creative groans and moans, I keep painting, and until that last brushstroke, I don't give up, I demand, I yield, negotiate, I listen, scold, swear and sweat, and I laugh and ask questions. Gosh, these beings have taught me so much.....
'Butterfly Forest" is long and flowing, and it can be mounted on any curtain hanging system that works in your home or office. It can be free-flowing or framed. It is fully heat-set, washed once and ironed.
Please never expose a silk painting to direct sunlight. The sun is so powerful that it can damage the silk. (if it can damage an oil painting, it sure can damage silk) Hang it where the sun will not shine on it directly.
The painting will be shipped rolled up in a shipping tube. When you receive it, please let is 'sit' for 3-4 hours in its shipping tube, to acclimate, before you unpack it.
